September is back-to-school time, and 1st Thursday’s will highlight the creative sides of art and business. Northwood University faculty is excited to offer mini presentations at various locations throughout downtown. Each ten-minute session will begin at 5:30 and will allow 30 minutes in between. So you will have ample time to visit each location. Sessions will be held at Golden Gallery, Do-Art Gallery and Studio 23…

Area Art Galleries/Studios Showcase Area Instructors
Golden Gallery, Do- Art, Studio 23, Ward Galleryand Painterly Pottery, and East Bank Market will be hosting the work of their instructors/resident artists and various local shops will be hosting the work of past and present students of these artists.

Art Contest!
The local galleries/studios have been invited to enter their instructors in a live art competition on September 6th from 3pm to 7pm. Top Prize will be:

1st: $175.00

2nd: $75.00

3rd: $50.00

The contest will begin at 3pm and end at 7pm. All entries will be turned in at Golden Gallery, 113 3rd St. by 7:15pm for judging. The artwork will then be promoted on the “1st Thursdays” website for two weeks in an online aution for charity!
