C.A.T.WORKS will host the public opening of CARL THOMAS’S memorial show this Thursday Dec 1st , at the gallery 514 Wash. Ave. 5-9 pm. We also will be featuring the opening of our annex gallery next door , showing the work of many local artists.

There will be no 1st Thursdays during the months of November, December, and January. But there is still plenty to do and see downtown in Bay City. Make sure to come down town and check out all the shops, restaurants, and businesses. Holiday shopping has never been easier, or more convenient!

1st Thursdays in Downtown Bay City celebrates ‘Made in Michigan’ featuring local art, live music, and great food at a variety of Downtown businesses.

1st Thursdays in Downtown Bay City is a monthly community event featuring art, live music, shopping and dining. The August 4th event features a salsa contest at seven downtown restaurants, a street party on 3rd St., highlighted by a “Doggy Fashion Show” at 6:30 p.m. and a tasting of Arcadia Ales and Tri-City Brewing Company’s best beers at the Golden Gallery and Ward Studio.

The Golden Gallery, Ward Studio and numerous other downtown shops and restaurants are proud to present a multi-disciplinary showing of work and live music.

The event will take place in Downtown Bay City, MI on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. and is proudly sponsored by Chemical Bank and Meadowbrook Insurance.

January 6th, Show off your best Chili Recipe,

January’s 1st Thursday Event is going to feature a Chili Making Contest! What a better way to warm up a cold January evening than good friends, art, shopping and good eats! We’ll have more details in the coming weeks. Comment or call us if you want to show off your chili making skills.

Also details coming for our Canned Food Sculptures. We are looking for businesses and/or individuals to sponsor artists who will make canned food sculptures for January 6th’s 1st Thursdays event in Downtown Bay City. This will help showcase in a creative way the need to replenish the food banks after the holiday’s, which are always in need at this time. Sculptures will be at several locations Downtown, you will receive recognition and a picture of your sponsored sculpture to display that shows your support of local artists and food banks! Contact us for further details. Also, google “canned food sculpture” to see examples of what can be done.

Dec. 2nd First Thursday is almost here

The holidays are just around the corner, and so is 1st Thursdays in Downtown Bay City on December 2nd. The event will feature a scavenger hunt, a Holiday Cookie Baking Contest, music by the Which Doctors at Brewtopia and much more. Don’t forget to bring in a Coats for Kids or Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive donation for extra points in the scavenger hunt. November 4th 1st Thursdays

November 4th will be a busy night in Downtown Bay City. 1st Thursdays will be a celebration of Native American Heritage. Children of the Turtle Shell, a youth group from Bay City Public Schools’ Title VII Indian Education Program will be featured at Golden Gallery & Custom Framing. Their Drum Group and Dancers will performing in traditional regalia, and they will be showcasing their arts and crafts as well. The Red Road Singers will also be performing. At Ward Gallery you can enjoy the wood flute music of Jim and Donna Murphy. Women in Business will be having their 1st annual Expo at the Atrium as well. Over 20 women owned businesses will be represented. There will be hors d’doeuvres, a cash bar and prizes. Major Sponsorship was provided by Bay Regional Medical Center, thanks for the support! Thanks to all our participating businesses for making this an awesome event. Without you it would be just another Thursday!

Michelle Courier at Golden Gallery and Custom Framing

Michelle Courier will be the featured artist for October at Golden Gallery and Custom Framing. I consider myself a realist and impressionistic painter. Bouncing between the two, I love to create visible brush strokes and textures that allow two different ways to enjoy the painting.” (From Michelle’s artist statement.) Michelle will be in the gallery Oct. 7th for the 1st Thursdays Event, so stop in and join the fun!
